UL-Rated CTVS Varistors

EPCOS / TDK UL-Rated CTVS Varistors withstand extensive surge and overvoltage tests and have UL 1449 approval (UL file E481997) for surge protective devices. These products enable protection against severe transient overvoltage and high surge currents, including 8/20μs pulses with peak currents up to 6kA and 10/700μs pulses up to 45A. This high surge series is predominantly used in industrial applications such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Industry 4.0, automation, production and control, and protection switches. EPCOS / TDK UL-Rated CTVS Varistors are also used in smart home and safety applications (fire alarms, access control, and monitoring systems) as well as in telecommunications applications, including base stations, Power over Ethernet (PoE), and IP cameras.  

PoE - Power over Ethernet Applications & Solutions

TDK PoE - Power over Ethernet Applications and Solutions feature TDK's expanded line of ALT series SMD pulse transformers to be used in combination with ACM and MCZ series common-mode filters. These are used in various PoE applications that are compatible with 1G/2.5G/5G/10GBASE-T, 10/100/1000BASE-T, and PoE+ (600mA) standards. PoE is a technology that allows electrical power and data transmission to be carried simultaneously through a single cable versus through a separate power cord and network cable. PoE reduces the number of cables and wires necessary for installation and allows for design flexibility, as device placement no longer relies on the availability of an electrical outlet. PoE is capable of supporting higher transmission speeds while still providing outstanding reliability and meeting compact design targets. TDK PoE - Power over Ethernet Applications and Solutions allow for greater scalability as the number of connected devices and LAN interfaces on each device continues to grow and more electronic components are used in servers and routers, as well as in other network and communication devices. 

Ceramic Transient Varistors

TDK EPCOS Ceramic Transient Varistors feature very low capacitance range of 0.6 to 10pF and bidirectional ESD protection in one component. These devices exhibit no change in ESD protection performance at temperatures and ESD protection to IEC 61000-4-2, level 4. The Ceramic Transient Varistors offer up to 85°C (temperature derating), low parasitic inductance, low leakage current, and <0.5ns fast response time. Applications include industrial, mobile phones, consumer electronics, and interfaces.

CTVS Multilayer Varistors for Surge Protection

EPCOS / TDK CTVS Multilayer Varistors for Surge Protection help to prevent damage from severe transient overvoltage and high surge currents, such as 8/20µs pulses with peak currents up to 6000A and 10/700µs pulses up to 45A. These suppressors feature reliable ESD protection up to 30kV, bidirectional protection, low leakage current, and long-term ESD stability. Applications for EPCOS / TDK CTVS Multilayer Varistors include industrial, building safety and security, power supplies, control and measurement equipment, and hard disk drives. The CTVS series is RoHS compatible, lead free, and approved to UL 1449 standards. Spice simulation models are available. The CT types with nickel barrier terminations (AgNiSn) are ideal for lead-free soldering and compatible with tin/lead solder. CN types with silver-platinum termination (AgPt) are for reflow and wave soldering with solder on tin/lead basis or lead-free with a silver-containing solder.
