In the past Kemet has had very limited concerns from customers
in tropical regions of the world that V cases were susceptible
to cracking due to out-gassing from absorbed moisture. This has
been a very small incidence rate. In order to address those
concerns, they chose to package V cases in moisture-protection
packaging. However, the parts have passed all requirements for
MSL1 testing and are therefore by definition MSL1 devices.

MLCC Replacement Solutions

KEMET KOCAP Tantalum Polymer Capacitors are ideal for board space savings, a piezo noise-free environment, high capacitance, long stable life performance, and/or lower profile requirements. Tantalum polymer capacitors are selected over other capacitor technologies when application voltages are less than 50V, capacitance needs are between 1µF to 1mF, and application frequencies are below 1MHz. Since replacing ceramic capacitors with tantalum polymer capacitors is not typically one-for-one, designers need to consider several design requirements as outlined in the schematic below.

T491 Solid Tantalum Chip Capacitors

KEMET T491 Solid Tantalum Chip Capacitors are precision molded capacitors with low profile case sizes, extended range values, and a voltage range of 2.5VDC to 50VDC. The T491 series offers a capacitance range of 0.1µF to 1000µF and symmetrical, RoHS compliant terminations. The KEMET T491 Series Solid Tantalum Chip Capacitors meet or exceed EIA standard 535BAAC.
