MLCC Replacement Solutions

KEMET KOCAP Tantalum Polymer Capacitors are ideal for board space savings, a piezo noise-free environment, high capacitance, long stable life performance, and/or lower profile requirements. Tantalum polymer capacitors are selected over other capacitor technologies when application voltages are less than 50V, capacitance needs are between 1µF to 1mF, and application frequencies are below 1MHz. Since replacing ceramic capacitors with tantalum polymer capacitors is not typically one-for-one, designers need to consider several design requirements as outlined in the schematic below.

Group Switch Tank Converter Products

YAGEO Group (KEMET, YAGEO, Pulse) Switch Tank Converter (STC) Products are high-efficiency, high-density converters designed for non-isolated DC-DC applications. These devices operate by replacing the large magnetics typically used in converter designs with stacking voltages using switches and capacitors. The STC products are strategically placed between the input and DC-DC converter stages of the YAGEO group's Digital Architecture Passive Components. As a solution, these STC products take advantage of advanced semiconductor technology to support power supplies.

Polymer Capacitors Computer Segment

KEMET Organic Capacitors (KO-CAP®) are solid electrolytic capacitors with a conductive polymer cathode, capable of delivering optimized solutions for today and in the future. The KO-CAPs offer low ESR, improved capacitance retention at high frequencies, and a broad dimension offering, from large case sizes to sizes as small as 2012-10. This KEMET KO-CAP portfolio supports the designers in innovation and technology.

Group Input Stage Solutions

YAGEO Group (KEMET, YAGEO, Pulse) offers inductors, capacitors, and TVS diodes with a large variety of form factors and specifications. In a digital system, the input stage is the first step in ensuring data integrity, circuit efficiency, and safety protections. This is typically achieved with an inductor, capacitor, and a TVS diode for low-voltage systems.

T529 Tantalum KO-CAPs

KEMET T529 Polymer Tantalum Capacitors are part of the KO-CAP product line in which a conductive organic polymer replaces the traditionally used MnO2 as the cathode plate of the capacitor, resulting in very low ESR and improved capacitance retention at high frequency. The T529 Series KO-CAP from KEMET uses a substrate termination design, which results in the most volumetrically efficient packaging technology available today in polymer tantalum chip capacitors. T529 Series capacitors offer high capacitance values (22µF to 150µF) in a small 2012 case size and are ideal for use in densely populated circuits such as smartphones and digital cameras where space restrictions do not allow for larger and more commonly available case sizes.

Tantalum Polymer Capacitors

KEMET Tantalum Polymer Capacitors are specially designed as a capacitance solution for applications seeking low ESR, high capacitance, long life, small case size, low profile, and high ripple handling. The use of a solid electrolytic capacitor in combination with a conductive polymer cathode yields the most energy-dense capacitance solution available in the world with the lowest possible ESR.
