DRV887x Brushed DC Motor Drivers

Texas Instruments DRV887x Brushed DC Motor Drivers are flexible motor drivers for various end applications. These devices integrate an N-channel H-bridge, charge pump regulator, current sensing and regulation, current proportional output, and protection circuitry. The charge pump improves efficiency by allowing high- and low-side N-channels MOSFETs and 100% duty cycle support. This family of devices comes in pin-to-pin, scalable RDS(on) options to support different loads with minimal design changes.

DRV8840 / DRV8842 / DRV8843 Motor Driver ICs

Texas Instruments DRV8840 / DRV8842 / DRV8843 motor driver ICs are integrated motor drive solutions for printers, scanners, and other automated equipment applications. TI DRV8840 DC motor driver ICs have one H-bridge driver and are intended to drive one DC motor. DRV8842 DC motor driver ICs have one H-bridge driver and are intended to drive one DC motor, one coil of a stepper motor, or other loads. Texas Instruments DRV8843 dual H-bridge driver ICs has two H-bridge drivers and can be used to drive two DC motors, one stepper motor, or other loads. The DRV8840 can supply up to 5A peak or 3.5A output current. The DRV8842 can supply up to 5A peak or 3.5A RMS output current. The DRV8843 can supply up to 2.5A peak or 1.75A RMS output current.

DRV8842 Motor Drivers

Texas Instruments DRV8842 Motor Drivers provide an incorporated motor drivers solution for printers, scanners, and other automated equipment applications. These drivers operate from 8.2V to 45V supply voltage. The DRV8842 driver includes one H-bridge driver and is intended to drive one DC motor, one coil of a stepper motor, or other loads. The output driver block consists of N-channel power MOSFETs configured as an H-bridge. The Texas Instruments DRV8842 can supply up to 5A peak or 3.5A RMS output current. Features include overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, under-voltage lockout, and over-temperature. Other applications include office automation machines, gaming machines, factory automation, and robotics. Compared to the DRV8842, the DRV8874 saves BOM space and cost by eliminating sense resistors.

DRV8840 DC Motor Drivers

Texas Instruments DRV8840 DC Motor Drivers are 5A brushed DC drivers with inrush protection, ideal for automated equipment applications. These drivers include one H-bridge driver and are intended to drive one DC motor. The DRV8840 drivers can supply up to 5A peak or 3.5A output current. These drivers come with a decay mode that is programmable to allow braking or coasting of the motor when disabled. Features include overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, under-voltage lockout, and over-temperature. The Texas Instruments DRV8840 DC motor drivers are available in a 28-pin HTSSOP package with PowerPAD™. Applications include printers, scanners, gaming machines, office automation machines, factory automation, and robotics. Compared to the DRV8840, the DRV8874 saves BOM space and cost by eliminating sense resistors.

DRV8874 Brushed DC Motor Driver

Texas Instruments DRV8874 Brushed DC Motor Driver is an integrated motor driver with N-channel H-bridge, charge pump, current sensing, proportional output, current regulation, and protection circuitry. The charge pump improves efficiency by supporting N-channel MOSFET half-bridges and 100% duty cycle driving. The family of devices comes in pin-to-pin RDS(on) variants to support different loads with minimal design changes. An internal current mirror architecture on the IPROPI pin implements current sensing and regulation. This eliminates the need for a large power shunt resistor, saving board area, and reducing system cost. The IPROPI current-sense output allows a microcontroller to detect motor stall or changes in load conditions. Using the external voltage reference pin, VREF, these devices can regulate the motor current during start-up and high-load events without interaction from a microcontroller. A low-power sleep mode achieves ultra-low quiescent current draw by shutting down most of the internal circuitry. Internal protection features include supply undervoltage lockout, charge pump undervoltage, output overcurrent, and device overtemperature. Fault conditions are indicated on nFAULT.
